Pages: 1 jzmtl Tourist Reged: 02/13/06 Posts: 4 Populated place names really messed up       #1194143 - 06/24/08 11:51 PM Edit   Reply   Quote   Quick Reply   I can't remember when did this start, but recently the populated place names are really messed up, a lot of new labels besides the city name popped up but makes absolutely no sense and shouldn't be there. Some of them are even name of the bridge near by. For example, green circles are city name, red X are not and shouldn't be there at all. The map is Montreal's south shore, I clipped too much and removed the coordinates. This is the case in New York City. I actually first noticed them when the New York Times layer was launched because placemarks referring to a neighborhood location are located/clustered at these markers. At a minimum I think such neighborhood markers should be identified by a different icon which can be separately turned on/off. In NYC, I know that they have no legal 'existence' but in looking at a place I'm not familiar with (such as Montreal), I would just assume that they were legal cities/towns. Perhaps they have some value if someone is planning a trip to a particular city. -------------------- felidae vult.......................................... ...................... Although I've lived here for over 5 years, I've never heard anyone refer to places with those names, so I'm not sure why they were added. Post Extras:       Pages: 1
