Hello Saibaba,
Do you have any evidence of what you wrote ? It would be cool if you could give us more informations about it or some related links.
Cheers.

Hi, actually there are no links about this place (maybe they want to keep it secret !!): a friend of mine gave me instruction to go there (his father worked in the base for a decade). What you can see once there are the check point along the road, the sentry box in the wood around the road and near the main entrance of the underground base, the main entrance of the base (a big hole in the rock fully closed by reinforced concrete at least 1.5 meters deep) and the ruins of the redundant air conditioning station located near the entrance linked to it by various pipes. In any case, as soon as possible, I will post the picture I took over there. Bye

Whenever I see "Underground base" I assume it is from the tinfoil hat brigade. In this case the story and the GE view do look legitimate. Did the base have a name?

of course you can think what you want... in any case the codename for the base was "PROTO". As far as the picture, stay tuned....

I assume this is indeed the entrance to PROTO, the now de-activated War Headquarters for the then NATO's HQ Allied Forces Southern Europe, or AFSOUTH. During the cold war NATO foresaw day-to-day functionning out of "above ground" Peace Headquarters (PHQ) ( for AFSOUTH at Bagnoli, Napoli), and during tension and war the command and control of NATO forces would have been excercised from underground War HQ (such as PROTO) and Mobile War HQ.
