Well, FYI the original situation is already overwritten by new foto's so you might not see what "we"saw before. I believe it was an effect of putting two photographs together causing glitches that looked like stitching or tape. There are a couple more topics about the same effect, check it out.

The tape is under the ocean, so you can't see it as well.

bigmouth -
That's Santa's N. American landing strip and main warehouse. He heads out with the re-stocked sleighs from that point. It's quite an operation - you know, staging is everything!
I hope this solves the puzzle for everyone.

Close enough on the idea that it's keeping earth together, but we know this not to be true - earth is held together by the Matrix... What this tape is holding together is ... one of Satelites that is taking the Google Earth pictures... (hence the closeup view...) and think about it - the satelite was built by the guys who put in the lowest bid, right!? So there - It's tape on two / three pictures taken by the same (cheapest, most clunky) satelite.

And here's further proof: The World is Held Together by Duct Tape, by Carl Steadman

I expect this has already been spotted, but I can't find a reference anywhere. We don't have tape, we just got a big gap about five miles long in the northeast coast of England. It is at 55.5553° , -1.71189°

Hi mypinknee, yes, this has already been noted. The best place to check for this kind of error is in the Data Problems Compendium.

More than likely it is tape, but not on the camera. I notice that it only seems to appear on the older low rez areas. Back in the olden days b4 the digital revolution they used film. These areas are probable scans of the old film that was "spliced" like an 8mm film.
