I got that bit last night  It's getting from there to your shot that I can't manage  I can't seem to find any place that's connected in fact or by name to that event, time or person. Or at least, not one that looks like your image Another hint perhaps?

Same here --the shot looks like it may be Ireland or a another country that drives on the 'correct' side of the road

Except the shadows show the sun from the north - so this must be southern hemisphere. So add that to the driving on the left, and I'd say South Africa, Australia or New Zealand.
Is there any way of finding a GE image by the date it was taken, other than searching entire countries for that date?

I don't know if I'm the only one in this case but your images take forever to download, when they do at all (right now I haven't seen your second clue yet, just the red cross, and it's been a while).
