Aerial news chopper picture overlay of the Glendale, CA commuter train wreck on 01-26-2005. 9 dead so far many critically injured.

It was eventually determined that Juan Manuel Alverez purposely parked his Jeep on the tracks and then ran away. The prosecution claimed he had the intent of causing a wreck to gain attention from his estranged wife. Defense claimed he was despondent and had attempted suicide but changed his mind at the last minute and ran from his vehicle. He was recently found guilty. The trial then went to the penalty phase where he was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole on July 15.
