Nah. No FEMA conspiracy here.
I went hiking/camping out there over Memorial Day weekend 2007. This area was an old munitions plant, and these "things" were built as concrete "barrell vault" bunkers that were covered with soil. Someone has bought the property, and is removing the dirt from the tops of the bunkers and leasing the space as storage units. We stopped and had lunch inside one of the bunkers...lots of barn swallows flying in and out!

No need to shout. Seriously, I think that the farmers that own and work the land around here would be surprise to learn about "hidden underground FEMA camps". Take your meds and go outside. The fresh air will do you some good.

yeah! And I can walk on water. This is typical left wing B.S. that comes out of the northern part of Indiana. If it's that bad then move north to Michigan or over to IL. The so called super highway is a pet project of Evan Bayh and the idiots he hangs with. It's called "the I-69 extention". Been on the books for about ten years. glt

There was an airfield at K.O.P.? I did not realize that. The bunkers looked like ammunition storage vaults to me.
Is there still any activity besides environmental cleanup on the former Military Reservation out there? I did not observe anything while we were backpacking.
As an aside, does anyone know what this thing is at the old KOP? It looks like a backstop for a gunnery range of some sort, with a 40' hill, a concrete enclosure, and a water canon on a tower. The strange thing is the conveyor that runs down the east face of the hill. Maybe part of a mine? We couldn't figure it out.
Thanks, Andy

Andy, the 0bject that you found is a building used to load ammunition with explosives. The "conveyor" is an emergency slide for the workers to evacuate in case of fire. Check out this link to see a neat web site about KOP. Take a look at page 3 for some photographs of the slides.
The "airfield" may be recent - it is not shown on the older overhead on the introduction.
Regards, Terry.

I do believe there are some camps out there - but kingsbury happens to probably not be one of them (although it is nice to see they updated the range and paved the parkinglot at the ranger station).
Not sure how framilier you are with kingsbury - but those things have been there for as long as I can remember - and that's going back to the early 80s (i'm only 28).
Take a drive out there some time. If you think it's restricted military land. It's not.
In fact - I can put out the area back in the back of area 5 where I shot my first deer, and the areas along "blood alley" (the fire lane that stretches north to south through areas 3 and 4 where the refuge meets non-refuge) that we had stands every year.
If you still think i'm full of crap - check out the indiana fish and wildlife site.

If it's restricted government land - perhaps somebody should tell the state of indiana that it's restricted.
If you're going to go off about conspiracy stuff - you might want to question what's burried in the ground all over that place that makes the trees die constantly, prevents anything from growing, ever, in certain areas - and what's up with the old munitions plants just west on Hupp Road. From google earth it looks like they've been renovated recently.
