Google Earth Community: Problem with mass-placemark-sharing

Essentially, what you need to do is collect all your Placemarks into a Google Earth container (a Folder or Document), save the container as a file, then share that file. See Editing Places and Folders and Using Places for basic information about organizing places.

To create a new Folder, click the Add menu, then choose Folder. Provide a name for the Folder and a description, if you would like. Then you can drag each Placemark into the Folder individually, which may take some time. You would then right-click the Folder (ctrl-click on the Mac), choose Save Place As, save it as a KMZ file, and distribute that file.

But there are shortcuts you can take, considering that you have lots of Placemarks. If your Placemarks are in the My Places Document in the Places pane, you can right-click and save that Document as a KMZ file, then distribute the file. But you may want to open that file, change the name of the Document, remove the Sightseeing Folder from it, and save it again before distributing it. If you have other junk in the My Places Document that you do not wish to share, remember to also delete that from the copy prior to saving it. There are other shortcuts that you can use instead. You could right-click and copy the My Places Document, paste the copy into the Temporary Places Folder, rename the copy and make any other desired changes, save that, and share the resulting file.

If you have Placemarks collected in the Temporary Places Folder in Google Earth's Places pane, you can right-click that Folder and choose Save Place As from the menu, and save it as a KMZ file. Then open that file in Google Earth and rename the contained copy of the Temporary Places Folder, so that the name has more meaning. Then right click it, save it as a KMZ file, and share that file with your co-workers.
