on this house on the brouwersgracht, rika jansen (nicknamed zwarte riek) was born on october 8th., 1924. her most famous amsterdam song was 'amsterdam huilt', a sentimental amsterdam-jiddish folksong structurally wrongly translated and maybe because of that, made the song so wonderfull. example: haloshi milo heine daar stond should be translated to adoshem eluhenu daar zong. other famous songs are 'mazzel' (means good luck) and 'mijn wiegie was een stijfselkissie' (my cradle was a wooden box).
