Pages: 1 gopherit First Post Reged: 08/27/08 Posts: 1 Problem Shutting Down Google Earth       #1224989 - 08/27/08 02:27 PM Edit   Reply   Quote   Quick Reply   Every time that I shut down Google Earth, I receive a message from Mircosoft saying that "Google Earth has encountered a problem and needs to close". When I send this error report to Microsoft, I eventually get a message indicating that the "Problem was caused by Google Earth, and that there is no solution for the problem". They go on to say that a newer version of Google Earth is available that might address the problem. I am currently on Version 4.3.7284.3916 with a build date of 7/8/2008. Any ideas how I might elimitate this irratating problem? Your issue may be related to your my places file which GE saves when it closes. You can find this file here: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Google\GoogleEarth\myplaces.kml (XP) C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Google\GoogleEarth\myplaces.kml (Vista) When GE is closed, try to move or rename it, and then open and close GE and see if the problem still occurs. A new default my places will be created. If there is no problem, you can open the old file and copy (drag and drop) the places you want to keep. Try and keep the content to a minimum to avoid future problems. There is an article here by simon_a about managing data in my places. If I click YES, this message appears When I click OK, GE goes away. If I click View Tech Info I get the following The reported info seems confusing. This happens regardless of layers used or parts of the globe visited. It always happens when GE has 1.7 gig of memory attached to it. Post Extras:       Pages: 1
