Hello, A very useful tool for displaying many placemarks in a small area, or the same kind of thing, or a tour, is a folder. Instead of clicking "placemark" on the "add a placemark" menu, click "folder" . Then you can drag placemarks you have already created to it, or create placemarks in the folder that you made and named. Attach it to your post as you would a regular placemark. So now, rather than someone having to visit many posts you made, which often get separated and scattered, they can click once and see all the things you want to show about the locality or item or tour. Later, if you have something else to add, you can add it, re-save and re-post the folder with the new information.
You will like the results much better if you use the "save as" command and save the folder to your hard drive. Then when making the post, "browse" will locate your folder and add it to your post. Using the "share" command adds all of the information from your placemarks to the post body, something that makes for a very confusing post.

Hi! Thanks for the tip -- I already was using folders for the posts in the main/original post (and then updating it as I go along, as you suggest), but I realized that if someone wants to view just one of the posts in Google Maps, then they would have to load the main folder in Google Maps and search for it. I thought I might reduce the number of steps someone might take to look at a specific location in Google Maps.
I'm pretty new to this, so is there a way to accomplish what I want without making a zillion posts? I like the simplicity of just updating the folder file, but I still want people to be able to go directly to the location of each piece in the folder on Google Maps/Earth from the post. I've noticed that people are looking at them both using the folder post and individually, so this is a feature I'd rather not give up if possible.
