This KMZ contains an overlay showing Texas Hurricane Risk Zones.
Zones correlate with hurricane strength categories 1-5 (see Saffir-Simpson scale following) and the wind/surge damage associated. Risk zones of higher hurricane strength categories also include the zones of lower hurricane strength. For example, locations within zones at risk from a category 3 hurricane also include the 1 and 2 categories/zones.
Zone 1: 74-95 mph winds, 4-5 feet approx. storm surge; Zone 2: 96-110 mph winds, 6-8 feet approx. storm surge; Zone 3: 111-130 mph winds, 9-12 feet approx. storm surge; Zone 4: 131- 155 mph winds, 13-18 feet approx. storm surge; Zone 5: over 155 mph winds, over 18 feet approx. storm surge

I really like your map of the Texas Hurricane Risk Zones, and I've included it in my latest compilation of useful Rita data. It's fantastic. However, I think the color scheme is backwards; areas that are most at risk should be red, and areas least at risk should be colored dark yellow. Also, the color for Zone 2 would be better suited for the area least at risk, rather than the second least at risk.
Would you be up for switching them? The attached file is what it would look like, and a screenshot is below. I edited the folder description in the KMZ to make sure you retained credit.

Sure thing, always open to improvements. I guess I was doing the colors based on the level of storm needed to threaten an area...but the color scheme you've got does make more sense at a glance.
