The first image shows the moon-phase like Google Sky shows it at this moment. The terminator is in the middle of mare imbrium, mare insularum and touches also mare nubium. The second image is a Google Sky screenshot. According to google Sky this image shows the moon on the 20th September. But I have calculated the first moon image for 9th september!!! That means that Google Sky shows us on the 20th september how the moon looked at the 9th september.

This is how the moon looks on 20th september and how it should look in Google Sky. The terminator is now in mare serinitates.

Hello
It seems that someone has worked on this, it is closer to the reality than before, but it still doesn't look like it should.
Because the image of the moon in google sky is not in high-res I cannot identify single craters nearby the terminator. Therefore I can only estimate how much aberration we still have. I think it is between 15 and 20 hours, what means that when google sky shows the moon from the 3rd of October at 12:30 UTC , we see the moon from 2nd of October at approximate 17:30 UTC.
Both images are calculated for October 3rd 12:30 UTC. You can clearly see that the terminator in the Google Sky image is still inside of Maare Crisium

Hello
It's still the same. It looks to me like the lunar phases in GE Sky run backwards.
The moon in Google Earth Sky on November 15th 2008.
This is how the moon looks on November 15th 2008.
