Google Earth Community: Attack of "Sendero Luminoso" (Peru)

The peruvian group 'Sendero Luminoso' (Shining Path) launched last 9th October a deadly ambush. This lead to about 13 military and 2 civilian deads, and much more of wounded victims.

The attack occured at the Tintay Puncu district, of the Tayacaja province, of the Huancavelica department.

According to the reports, a military convoy was returning to base from Tintay Puncu district head, when a device hidden under one of the vehicles exploded. The survivors were then caught up in a gun battle. The specific place where occured is known as 'Curva Sajona'.

The convoy was returning to their military base at 'Cochabamba Grande', and they belong to the 2nd Infantery Brigade and to the Special Command of the VRAE (Valle de los rios Apurimac y Ene).
