Ancient Redwood Trees to be Cut by Green Diamond?

This new Green Diamond clear-cut logging plan contains scattered residual Old-Growth Redwood Trees in Unit A. The average ago of the others is 50 years. Nearly all the old-growth in this watershed was clear cut during the post-World War II logging boom. The timber harvest plan (thp) document is vague as to if/how many of the Old-Growth trees will be logged. There is no specific law protecting ancient trees from being cut down.

The well lit crowns of the larger trees in stand out from the younger canopy, some of them casting long shadows on their neighbors.

The THP calls for 118 acres of Clearcut logging and 37 acres of Selection logging. Needs more investgation.
