Beechcraft Starship

The Beechcraft (Raytheon-Beech 2000) Starship is a Burt Rutan design. Like all of his designs, it differs from the expected configuration. I've searched many an airport for signs of one and finally found one in Punta Gorda, FL. The linked web page has lots of great pictures and says that the existing planes are due to be decommisioned by Raytheon, which owns all but four of the flying planes.

Beechcraft Starships - Marana Air Park , AZ [Re: Hill]
      #16086 - 12/27/04 08:34 PM

According to the web page mentioned in my first Starship post, most of these unique craft are based in Wichita - or were. They are probably at the location posted here now.

Here is a fairly recent picture of the Starship graveyard in Arizona.

Here are four more (just when I thought there were no more to be found) in San Antonio, TX.
They look like they are in mothballs too. Thanks to GIbeans for this discovery.

Imagery changed. See initial post for a folder including all current Starships.

Pardon my ignorance in things that fly (I'm not a total heathen - I do have an RC helicopter), but what is the significance of the planes to the south painted dark red, and the ones painted gold/yellow? Are those simply carrier paint jobs?

Here is another Starship found by Marquis_de_Sade at Dulles International outside of Washington, D.C.
See initial post for a folder including all current Starships.
SWAG, otherwise known as idle speculation, leads me to wonder if this plane is Burt Rutan's on a visit to the D.C. area. The photo was probably shot on Jan. 26, 2005. Perhaps he was there for some sort of award or meeting.

Hi, Hill

In my search for DC3s, I came across this. I don't think you've collected this one yet.

Cheers

Frank
