Floating island in Mass towed back into pond

Apparently, this 10,000 square foot island in the middle of Island Pond is not actually attached to the ground... it floats!

It recently got pushed by the wind over to a man's yard and had to be towed back out into the middle of the pond, as you can read in this article:

That is quite incredible FoxholeAtheist. I certainly wouldn't like it blowing into my backyard

Call that a pond? I call that a lake! It's huge. A pond should be just big enough to hold 5 ducks not a fleet of war ships!

The floating island made the front page of the NY Times today - a small pond makes it to the big leagues at last!

I attended Cathedral High back in the '70s, and now live in NY City, so it was a real treat to see the school on the front page of my Sunday paper. (I came here thinking I'd earn a placemark, only to find that FoxholeAtheist -- and the Boston Globe -- beat me to it.)

Notice that the Times and Google earth use the same aerial photo (from MassGIS).
