Armories in Manhattan

Here are 3 active armories in Manhattan. They're part of the NYARNG (New York Army National Guard) http://www.dmna.state.ny.us/

Interesting to think amongst all those hotels, film locations, tourist spots are although minute, military bases...
And there's hundreds....probably thousands of these armouries all over the U.S.....Many shaped like these ones in Manhattan.

When I was a kid, my great aunt had a condominium apartment diagonally across the street from armory #3. I could look down on from the window of the bedroom I stayed in when visiting. Keyhole and good posting keep bringing back memories.

Was brilliant when I've been able to look at sites I visited when I came to Florida several years ago

Seventh Regiment Armory
(1877 - present)
Manhattan

Located at 643 Park Ave., near East 66th Street. The prototype "medievel fortress" style national guard armory that was copied around the country in the late 19th-century and early 20th-century. Still in use today. Designated a New York City Historic Landmark.
