There are many places in this world which are magical and sacred and I feel the the badlands are one of the bigger places of this nature. Here a man can converse with the gods themselves, here strange energies flow through your very soul and energize it, vitalize it.

A complete learning experience

Shackleton's expedition, Endurance, Antarctica

But when you are in a hopeless situation, when you are seeing no way out, get down on your knees and pray for Shackleton.

This is Google Earth Community forums and the Google Earth client at it's best.

Tokyo
Tokyo is a very congested place so pinning the exact place has been tricky. I am confident that I am accurate to the block though.

Complete Amsterdam Guide
Amsterdam, at last a guide for something to do.
I started with a travel guide book. you can find all the important sights there, then go to Google Earth, find the sight, and placemark it. turning on streets can be very helpful finding the places of interest.
Then when you found one, just write a description to it (or copy and paste from a travel website) and post the link to a picture if you want. you can also embed a picture with a html tag.
Thats pretty much it,

1,000's of cities left to do, has your hometown been done yet??

Nuclear Facilities - Power Plants, Fuel Processors ( USA )
If you know of one I missed, please let me know. Some sites are High-res, some are super-low res. Enjoy!

WWII: All the places, battles & special OP
And the great links make it even more valuable.

Anchorages of the Caribbean & More
Anchorage placemarks utilize anchor icons, placemarks which include diving information have dive flag icons, and land based travel utilize either sign posts, Myan pyramids or airplanes. Icons are grouped by region / country / state or year.

California Historic and Geologic Maps
Still fine tuning the interface and adding more maps. Now have about 1,700 map overlays available. I have also color and size coded the image placemarks so that it's much easier to tell where the maps are in relation to each other. Any of the map groups that have "NEW" at the end have been converted over to this index system. Working on converting the others over.

Sculptures Around the World
am new..and as the warning notice suggests, am bubbling with enthusiasm. How about collecting sculptures that actually can be seen on Google Earth. OK, if you want to add museums as well that may be OK and note the presence of a sculpture garden or what have you.
I was just amazed at that I could see Henry Moore's Atom Piece (Nuclear Energy) on the U fo Chicago campus.

Airports Worldwide – over 950 of them!
What started out as a little pet project to find the airports that I had flown to, ended up being a massive undertaking of international proportions

A salute to the ubiquitous DC-3
This post now includes all DC-3 placemarks to date in one folder for fewer downloads. If you think you have a new one, download the attached placemark folder first. All finds to the time of the update are in it. If there is no placemark on your find, it's a new one.

Satellite captured Planes in flight
The placemark at the head of this post contains a record of all aircraft discovered in flight in GE. It is split into 2 folders, Satellite-captured aircraft, and Aerial photography of aircraft.

It is updated with new finds daily. If you download it (just click on it) and drag-and-drop it into My Places and make sure it is enabled, and you'll instantly know if any finds that you make have been spotted before. Make sure you update it regularly - just delete the old one and download the new..

Huge Lighthouse KML
Spend some time to read through the descriptions and pictures at the LighthouseFriends website. Some of the history is fascinating, with stories of rescues, shipwrecks and other tasty lighthouse trivia.
