The New River Gorge Bridge near Fayetteville, WV.
It carries US-19 Corridor L for 3030' on a 1700' single steel arch making it the longest single-span bridge in the US. At 876' not the highest gorge span(Royal Gorge in CO @ 1053'), but makes for great fun during the annual BridgeDay Festival when the state opens the bridge for foot traffic, bungee & BASE jumping.
P.S. Chevrolet filmed a commercial here where they actually bungee jumped a 1/2 ton pickup truck!!! State consented when engineers determined the bridge could take the stress.
Saw the commercial only once on TV. Legal Dept. probably pulled the plug when they realized people could & would actually recreate this stunt. Imagine driving off a high cliff knowing that you won't hit the bottom!
KID'S, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!

Question? why didn't the links link? Like I said, I'm a newbie. Also I still can't create an overlay of my own. Can download others and have read all available forums by lrae & others but am still stumped. any help for a computer illiterate?

Second, look at the code you generated... It's "[url=www.xxx.com]".
Now look here and notice items 1 and 2 in the "code" section. You didn't do either one, but did a combination of both. Basically you are missing the [/url] at the end or just delete all the [url] and [] stuff and just leave the URL info. You only need the [url] stuff if you want words displayed instead of the URL info.
So you can do either of these::
Code:
[url]http://www.wvbridgeday.com[/url]
which is the same as
http://www.wvbridgeday.com
Cool. I like this with the terrain off. The shadow from the bridge gives a cool 3d effect and illustrates the height of the bridge (or depth of the gorge).
These posts illustrate that even where we don't have high res data, it's kind of fun to explore the terrain.
Stiuskr, If you have followed EVERY step listed here you should have created an Overlay and Attached it to a post. Try it again as a reply to this post. We can then look at the attachment and probably figure out what went wrong. Remember and this is the important part... you can't break anything by trying this, and make sure you do each step. I also think about 75% of us (with the exception of MacRane) had a problem with Overlays when we first started...
Oh yes... like Coldone said... Great Post, I was going to mention that you could even see the shadow in low res... but he must be a touch typist and beat me to it.
