Please label your finds as accurately as possible.

I at least half expect someone to notify me recent placemarks I have posted have already been posted. I try to be careful about using the BBS, but that is generally only useful for posts several months old due to the time between updates of the layers. I also check Search, but that is only useful if posters use clearly labeled posts describing the object and its location With so many people posting so many things it is essential to take another minute or two to identify both the object and its location to the best of your ability. A search for a specific key word or words often results in many hits. Many have simply a RE: whatever was in the original post which is fine as long as you are simply commenting on the original post. But many new placemarks get hidden as RE: posts. Change the subject line from RE: even if you are responding to a post if you are introducing something new. That way you, and lots of grateful others, will be able to find your placemarks easily.

I'd like to add a second part to this request (it follows right in line with good labeling):

For those of us that maintain extensive collections, when the imagery is updated, as with the recent Portsmouth changes, it is better to update your original post and KMZ with the new information than it is to make an entirely new thread and placemark. In other words, if ships have vanished from view, then remove them from your file and update it. If they've moved, move the placemark. Ships/planes & other military vehicles are ephemeral by nature, and move all the time. Keeping our placemarks accurate ensures the best experience for all of us.
