The organisers of the Euromilhoes Dakar unveiled the route of the 28th edition of the race, which will take place from the 31st of December 2005 to the 15th of January 2006.   Quick stats ... 16 days, 9000 Km, only 2 rest days, tougher than even the Baja 1000, roadway bandits, 45 deaths since its inception in 1979. Every class races together ... motorcycles, sidecar motorbikes, cars, trucks.

To Add:
Here is a list of all the way points with some slight discrepancy. The overlay isn't 100% but this is closer to 80% the actual route being taken (compared with the actual detailed map of the rally going on now!)

Thanks Jedi! Nice work. Here's todays update from Deutschewelle TV ...  Jutta Kleinschmidt retains her 3rd place in Team Volkswagen's Touareg. She was the first female ever to win the rally in 2002.
After the arrival of eight cars, the situation in the overall standings has completely changed from yesterday. Alphand and “Peter” are closely followed by Jutta Kleinschmidt, the best placed Volkswagen
