Did anyone take into consideration that it may be large piles of salt, since this is a picture of a 'salt city'?

Since hippos live near water, and elephants tend to live in grassy areas or near forrestation, this is far more likely to be a horse, actually looks more like a donkey or mule.

It is a donkey. Zoom as close as possible, orientate N. You'll see it's long ears.
