I think you may have something there, Jumbled....the picture appears to fit the image of the top of the ship. Good work!

Might take a bit of detective work...more than a few cruise lines there!

The new NYC update shows three ships docked near Intrepid Museum. The place looks a bit like this:

I'm figuring October 13, 2002. Any ideas on what ships?

This is Labadee, Hispaniola - the Royal Caribbean private beach. This appears to be a Voyager family ship because of its shape and size but it's hard to tell in this low-res image. I was on a Voyager of the Seas trip in March 2003 that was supposed to stop there, but the weather did not cooperate, so we continued on to Jamaica.

A couple of big ships in Tampa Bay. (Seems they are always docked...like to capture one sailing!)

In the center of the eta is the American Victory cruise ship, and the Florida Aquarium.

Never been here, looks cool.

If this image is from January, then this would be a cruise to Mexico from LA. SInce she is obviously not one of the Carnival Cruise Line ships (no stack wings), she is likely a Royal Carribean ship, Legend of the Seas, the only other line sailing from LA in January of 2003.

(Obviously, eta shows earlier date, older ships) (Also, photo is from NYTimes, and link may not last)

Here's a "cruise ship", not so big, and not going anywhere anytime soon. It is, however, the only one of its type in the US.

Items from the NS Savannah

Great find, JediBoy. The NS Savannah completely slipped my mind since High School. I wrote a paper on its launching and significance. At that time, I thought that all ships would be nuclear by 1978!

NS Savannah was built at NY Ship in Camden,New Jersey, just across the Delaware from Philadelphia.

Thanks Word Puzzle. Although it's rusting, the Savannah is still a magnificent-looking vessel. Looks like a huge yacht when you fly over it (sitting next to a floating nuclear power plant).

Here's a good link showing how the Savannah fit into Pres. Eisenhower's
Atoms for Peace plan.
