Keyhole Art/Google Art

With the new database and a much more detailed lowest resolution earth to look at, we can really see lots of abstract art pieces created by the various land and water and other features. If you see something that can be cropped down nicely to fill the viewer frame, show it to the rest of us here. There are some already placemarked in the BBS than can also be imported here. Best with roads and borders off.

EDIT: And don't miss this wonderful collection by Seer. And this by trvlnman
Favourite screenshots in Google Earth is another great one started by JosieNorden.
More from RWFG

EDIT: I just came across this thread of Earth Art locations (post # 3182 !!! - now that in Keyhole/Google Earth terms is ancient ). These were created with .eta files, predecessor to .kml and .kmz. They had to be converted to be saved and in the process lost all tilt, altitude and direction data. Only location was retained. So they will look nothing like they originally did, also because imagery has changed in many places. But zooming in and rotating and tilting may give an idea why they were originally selected as art.

EDIT: There is another collection here by mudshark

Here's another to get things started off..

--------------------
"We have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we may have. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest." - Stephen Schneider (leading advocate of the global warming theory), Discover magazine, Oct 1989.

"Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are..." -former Vice President Al Gore, Grist Magazine, May 9, 2006

With no known exceptions, the cost of internal trust, efficiency and loyalty is external distrust. The "us against them" is not an optional feature, if there were some way to preserve the loyalties and the tremendous benefits of internal trust without paying the cost of the ferocious xenophobia, then that would be just what we want to do. But we don't know how to do that.

Here are three among a myriad of possibilities of abstract art to be found in the Oklahoma panhandle. Mixed media: soil, vegetation, center-pivot irrigation.

There are some really strange things on this plane when seen from the air. I have no clue what this is, but it is interesting, and a little artistic.

My first thought was clouds, but it just didnt look like any clouds anywhere else. Does Iran have any Keyholers who could educate us? At very least, they are unusual clouds.

It looks to me like some sort of erosional landform in tilted sedimentary strata. Up close it has a resemblance to some kinds of tree bark. Placemarked is a road crossing one edge of it.

Then again, look at the patterns in this dune field in Libya. A mixture of depositional and erosional effects.
