New Add
New Add April 9 2006 Hi everyones. We build this database compressive and hope,useful.. (New Add don't means new finds) Collect about 26.000 meteorits in 127 Countries contain brief description each ones, there are: 1-Name 2- Type(stone, iron ect) 2- Coordinates: 3- Where They Find or Fall: 4- Date:When Recovered 5- Recovered Weight: 6- Group 7- Petrologic type: example:Hexahedrite -Pallasite, Ataxite, ect) 8- Shock stage 9- Weathering grade We planning to update as soon possible if meteorit fell or find ANYWHERE on earth Data from:127 Countries Around the World Note: ----1-Don't including those that no show coords 'til confirmate and..... ----2-No duplicate .with others GE members placemarks. Meteorite Types Iron primarily iron and nickel; similar to type M asteroids
Stony Iron mixtures of iron and stony material like type S asteroids Chondrite by far the largest number of meteorites fall into this class; similar in composition to the mantles and crusts of the terrestrial planets Carbonaceous Chondrite very similar in composition to the Sun less volatiles; similar to type C asteroids Achondrite similar to terrestrial basalts; the meteorites believed to have originated on the Moon and Mars are achondrites . See Also Valery's Network Link We Get this from most complete database about this topic Many Thank from this web siteNatural History Museum this data only intent to research and information. Also Many Thanks to Nomenclature Committee of the Meteoritical Society Enjoy.!! Majoska )

WAUU - a lot of work there! Very cool.:)
A question: Is there a way to sort the locations so that playing the tour will jump to the closest location rather than spinning the globe? I would expect the image loading to be completed quicker between each jump as more cached image information potentially will be available when the focus is only moved a little??

That's a great idea and a great post Majoska. Here's a bit of trivia which concerns a rather amazing coincidence about two meteorites which fell in Wethersfield, CT, USA. In April 8, 1971, the meteorite in your database fell on a house and crashed through the roof. 11 1/2 years later, November 8, 1982, a meteorite crashed through the roof of another house in Wethersfield CT. After passing through the roof and into the living room, it bounced into the dining room, and landed under a table.
The one which fell in Sylacauga, Alabama, is the only known case of a meteorite hitting a person in the US. Ann Hodges of Sylacauga was slightly injured when the meteorite crashed through the roof of her home and hit her in the hip, bruising her. The story. MORE CLOSE CALLS

Hello valery is as he was explaining if you realized that there were some of these fallen down objects of the "sky" that the coords were not showing that are known that they have fallen down others as they are in case of those who are in the Antarctic In one word: to avoid the rebundance and only 4 of what it shows in this database since it was already marked by other members of alone GE I said again 4 .. out of 36.000 Greetings
