Well I have noticed how little information there is in GE about small, not very densly populated Islands and Archipelagos, so this is my little contribution to the comunity.
It is sort of a compendium of what I have so far found on the web regarding these islands. It is also a work in progress, thus the reason why it is Dynamic, as I input more information to the original file it will automatically update.
All critiques are welcome as well as some help, should any local people find anything wrong with the placemarks or information in the file.
Best Regards,
Djorge

Djorge, why do you put thousands of markers about how little info there is about such and such a place? Will one not suffice?

Dear Rocco,
I will take into consideration the fact that this being your first post, you are new here and also that English must surelly not be your native tongue, otherwise, had you read and understood what was written in the earlier posts you´d save yourself the embarassment of posting such a rediculous question.
Should you have cared, to download the kmz file uptop this page then you´d have saved ME the time it took to write this response, and you the time it took you, that by the way must not have been much, to turn GE Community layers on and off. Read some more about these layers here in the forum, then when your educated enough on the subject feel free to critique my posts WITH A REASON.
best regards,
Djorge

Hi there Djorge.
Well done for adding all the info that you have. May I however just make a small point please. On Ascension Island you have 2 x Two Boats Village locations. Your icon to the North is the actual Village and the icon below is the old RAF Ascension Accommodation Camp. This is actually where I was living for 6 months whilst based on the Island.
If you are at all interested I have uploaded some pictures of the Island for people to see. They are at the following link:

Thank you

Hello Darren,
I´ve just browsed your flickr galery, and was impressed by the landscape on Ascension, its really quite unique and appealing (too bad its a little out of the way). Mind you that my interest for the archipelago was aroused by an expedition some friends of mine were in which took them from Rio de Janeiro - Brazil to Luanda - Angola and back through Saint Helena, on a 40' sail boat. The expedition is listed below on my signature, it is hosted here on the bbs as the team here on land followed the crew with short wave radio and relayed the info on a dynamic live link to GE, the link has a tonne of info about the expedition and the archipelagos of the south atlantic that they crossed (if your interested). Mainly due to the lack of info on the St. Helena Archipelago, I took some spare time and found some maps on the net which then I used to put these places on the GE map. Thanks for your comment!
Best regards,
Dave

HI,
Just a little more info on this placemeark. As already stated the north marker is two boats village, the one below is called Travellers Hill and is the accommodation base for Ascension Island Base, the airfield to the south. This site has military (RAF), and civilian acommodation for the support staff for the base.
Any more info? get in touch

I lived on St Helena for nearly 2 years in the 60s at Longwood.
The picture of "View showing the road leading to Longwood 1863" actually shows the road to "The Briars" which is the building with the white roof towards the centre of the picture.
Napolean Bonapart was a frequent visitor to The Briars from where he lived at Longwood House to see Betsy Balcombe.
The road leading to Longwood climbs steeply up the left hand side of the valley with several hairpins. Jamestown to Longwood takes about 15 minutes after passing the current turn for The Briars.
When the UK to Australia telephone cable was laid through St Helena, it terminated at The Briars and was operated by Cable and Wireless. When the cable failed, Cable and Wireless relayed traffic by radio, still at The Briars.
I hope this is helpful
