Many years ago, the land called California stretched from the Oregon Border in the north to the tip of the Baja peninsula. Missions were built throughout this region. Twenty-seven missions were built along the Baja California peninsula between 1697 and 1854 by members of three Catholic religious Orders. Alta California missions are located here.

UPDATED: 6.18.2006 ... minor typographical & graphical corrections ... reloaded KML.
Note that much of Baja is now covered by high resolution 1-meter imagery.

Thanks Lou. And welcome to the GE forum! For all us Baja Nomad forum types, you're goinf to find this BBS an awesome place! Most of Baja is covered by high-resolution like never before. Only since mid-2006. I've got many placemarks here. You can actually count cars & RV's in remote places like Catavina. Have fun exploring.
