bigfoot search helpfull hint I am from Mission, British Columbia where I noticed one of your bigfoot posts purley by chance. I noticed you asked for ways to make the information more clear and accessible. Put the word bigfoot, or sasquatch as i know it, in your placemark titles. I dont believe numbers draw enough attention. Anyway just a thought. Good luck with your project.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand and agree with your point. When these placemarks are viewed within the community layer it is not at all clear what they refer to, so I have already considered adding more info to the placemark names to address this.
But here is the other side of the coin. While I appreciate that the moderators have included this project in the community layers I really did not create this file in order for it to be displayed in a layer with all sorts of other attractions. Rather the idea is to download the ,kmz file and use it on a stand alone basis. When using the data this way adding more information to the names becomes superfluous and only increases the screen clutter, which is bad enough already with over 4,000 placemarks. So unless someone can come up with another idea I like better, I plan to leave the names as they are now even though it leaves things unclear in the community layer.
Since your are from BC, I'll call your attention to the web site of the Western Canadian Sasquatch Research Organization . This is one of several groups whose data I have not yet found time to include in my project. Any volunteers?

Just a brief note to mention that the dataset is now enhanced to include TimeStamp tags to allow for use with the Google Earth 4 Timeline tool.

Very interesting idea - plotting the location of Bigfoot sightings. I would recommend adding GPS co-ordinates wherever possible. Using GPS co-ordinates makes the data very transferable between map applications - contour maps, road maps, etc.

All Google Earth data necessarily include geographic coordinates. (How else would Google Earth know where to locate the place marks?) You can translate Google Earth .kml files to other file formats for use with GPS units or other mapping sofware using utilities such as GPSBabel.

I lived on the Middle Fork on (mislabeled) Middle Fork Lane ( two roads up from the turnoff. We had bear, deer, wolves, mountain lions, but I never saw a Sasquatch and never heard of anyone else in the area having seen one, including my neighbor, who was a 27year resident.

You realize that it is impossible for me, or anyone else, to recognize which report you are referring to when you provide so little information?
If you want to discuss the validity of a specific report this is not the place to do so. I am simply mapping reports that were submitted to various groups interested in researching the bigfoot phenomenon. If you want to challenge a report you would be better served by following the report's link to the source organization and raising your concerns with that group.
On the other hand, if anyone has information that would improve the accuracy of a report's location, I welcome your feedback via private mail here.

Hi, I was looking on google earth and found one of your posts for a big foot siting in Oroville, Ca right by the lake. When I clicked on the post however, the description of the siting was an event in Forest Ranch, which is at least 25 miles to the north. Thought you might want to know. The posting was listed as 1985-04Spr. And the description was listed as bfro report #1548.

Thanks. My error. The only Bidwell Canyon I could find was near Oroville, but obviously that is too far from Forest Ranch. If you know where the correct Bidwell Canyon is in relation to Forest Ranch, please advise. (From my maps it would likely be on Little Chico Creek.) I will correct this on the next revision of the data file. Thanks again for the helpful feedback, which is exactly what I am looking for!
