Data Problems > Image Errors > Needless Images
The Compendium Table of Contents contains a single network link which enables you to download the latest version of the entire Compendium in a single file of about 1.1 megabytes. ____________________
The attached file outlines many oceanic medium resolution DigitalGlobe images which are no longer needed. They lie completely in the water and create only visual confusion. They are another source of questions among the conspiracy theorists. (What are "they" hiding?)

Data Problems > Image Errors > Orthorectification
The Compendium Table of Contents contains a single network link which enables you to download the latest version of the entire Compendium in a single file of about 1.2 megabytes. ____________________
Briefly, this is the process of adjusting images so that they fit together and fit to the curved earth. Adjacent pictures may have been taken from different vantage points. Each picture will have different perspectives in different areas of the picture, unless taken from a VERY great distance. CLICK HERE for more information. Bridges require extra attention.
- Germany:
---- Bottrop deformed rail tracks
Iran ---- Teheran's Mehrabad Airport has visible waves
- Turkey: Istanbul Bridges
---- Bosphorus - Bosaziçi - these have poor orthorectification ---- First Bosphorus Bridge (Bosaziçi Köprüsü). ---- Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge (Fatih Sultan Mehmet Köprüsü). ---- Golden Horn (Haliç) ---- Galata Bridge (Köprüsü) ---- Atatürk Bridge (Köprüsü) ---- Old Galata Bridge - The photo is correct because the bridge was cut into pieces and was being moved here ---- Golden Horn Bridge (Haliç Köprüsü)
- USA
---- Chicago shows buidings split and crashing together ---- Houston is an excellent example of a bridge which needs considerable orthprectification ---- Hawaii and Washington, DC, deformations of 7.22 square meter rectangles, "squeezing" each from the northeast and southwest corners, throughout the USGS imagery

Is this a "hair line"? Or some other sort of image blemish?

See the posting SQUIGGLES, where you'll see a collection of them.
They are truly everywhere in the new high resolution imagery.

Gibraltar imagery is misaligned from the elevation data (visible by looking at an oblique view).
Hope this helps,

Phi Phi Don appears to be gone... (I love how that rhymes... I have no life)

Sorry, I already posted this elsewhere before I saw this thread.
Select "Borders" and zoom-out a little and you'll see where it's supposed to be.
