dear a67!
This airplane at the Budaörs airfield is a LI-2, which is the "russian version" of the original DC-3. This one's tail number is HA-LIX. Check these sites for details:

I think this is probably the same one that has now disappeared from the south end of the same airport. Thanks. I readjusted the position in the main folder.

No greater accolade for the DC-3 exists than the fact that over six decades after its first flight more than 400 remain in commercial service worldwide. Durability, longevity and profitability are but three of this outstanding aircraft's virtues. An almost instant sales success, the DC-3 became the mainstay of the US domestic airline network in the years prior to World War 2. Aside from passenger comfort and appeal, the DC-3 offered that most important of virtues, profitability, with the result that over 400 had been sold to airlines prior to late 1941. Airliners.net

Hello
There is a DC3 static display in a town called Harbour Grace in Newfoundland, Canada. This town has an aviation history as well, and the -3 was donated to the town by a Mr. Pike, who was my employer in my days with Air Labrador. He has since added a statue of Amelia Earhart to the small park there. If u are interested u can just Google or Yahoo Harbour Grace, NL, and see attractions, photos, and history. CF-QBI was probably the only -3 to use a home kerosene heater in the cockpit for heat when the plane was hauling mail from Stephenville to Goose Bay in the winter - about early 80s - don't think Transport Canada would have been excited about that !!
If this one is new to u and u need some further info shout me.
Eric
