Since the original "A salute to the Ubiquitous DC-3" post was first published, I've been surprised at how popular these planes have been with Google Earth users. The post has turned out to be one of the most viewed and most replied to posts in these forums. Lots of people really love the old "Gooney Bird".
Because so many have an interest, it makes sense to expand our knowledge of where we can go to find them. So I'm adding this sub-thread to provide information on the locations of known DC-3's not visible from the air.
I'm further sub-dividing this thread into " DC-3's in Museums " and " Unresolvable DC-3's ". If you wish to contribute, please provide some sort of a link to a web-site so that others can find out more about the plane(s) before heading off to visit them.
Thanks,
Hill

Please use this sub-thread to show locations of DC-3's housed in museums.
There are many beautifully restored DC-3's inside museums where they are not visible to users looking down from space using Google Earth. Many DC-3 fans would be grateful to know where they are. If you know of one housed inside a museum, please provide links with your post so that others can either view its image in this thread or perhaps even go see it in person.
Here is one already in the main thread posted by genehil

Reply to this sub-thread to show locations of planes that are currently based in locations that are not yet of high enough resolution to see them in Google Earth.
You may know of the current presence of a DC-3 which, though located outdoors, is not yet visible in Google Earth imagery. We hope that some day an imagery update will make it visible to us. Until then, since many Google Earth users are big fans of the plane, letting us know where on Earth it can be seen in person would be helpful. Please provide links to help others to find them and verify the presence of any planes posted here

The National Air and Space Museum is one of the great air museums. Located on The Mall in Washington, DC, it houses part of the Smithsonian aircraft collection. Hanging from the ceiling in on of the display halls is this beautifully restored Douglas DC-3. The placemark for this location is in the folder accessible from the original post. Be sure to take a tour of the museum by clicking on the blue link above.
