All the stages of this year Tour de France.
Complete with exact route for each stage, including the route of the pre-start.
Waypoints for all the Feature on the stage with Sprint, Mountain points and ravitaillement.
You can use the Play-Tour option to follow the route.
During the race there was also live coverage of the race with a network link. The position of the different groups of cyclists where plotted on the route in real time. This feature has been removed now because the race is over.
See you all next year for the Tour de France 2007 Live on this channel

The main geocoding is done for the first 11 stages. routing is done by linking the waypoints with a straight line.
next step will be the geocoding of the waypoints for the other stages.
After this I wil refine the routing to match the road path.
And here a request to the comunity: Detail information needed for start and finish locations. The routing from the real start to the entrance of the arrival town can be computed quite accurately. the exact course for the arrival must be found on other web sites.
Please if you find some details on the web, please forward a link to me for including the information in my placemark.
Thanks

Hi Scotty,
Sorry to hear you have problems,
Can you please detail what went wrong. Is it loading the Network link that failed or is it the refresh of the Network link??
Are you using the Win or Mac version of GE?
Also, try to download the placemark from the second post of this thread (That is in fact the file fetched by the network link).
Sometimes I observed the BBS site answer is a bit slow, thus provoking a temporary error in the network link.
I checked from my side and got no error.
Please report back.

Working now.
What happened (in case others have the same issue)
I downloaded the first file, then saw the post to get the newer one.
Once I cleared the cache it was fine
obvious thing I overlooked

Here some information obaut how the route for this year Tour de France where created.
The core information is published of the site www.letour.fr. That is basically a long list of cities, villages and road crossings. there is also an information on which road they are on. (Well all in French but thats how i grew up…)
Coordinates for this list of places are taken from a navigation programm, in this case Viamichelin. This is the list you can find under the “Waypoints” folder in each stage.
The i use the driving directions from google earth to link the different places. So I do not even have to draw the track myself…
Finally i analyse the resulting track at www.gpsvisualizer.com to find out the length of the track.
So basically I use different resources to combine the available information. Some being only available recently (driving directions from GE and GPSvisualizer).
To refine the work I upgraded to GE-Plus to be able to edit the resulting track within GE with more confort.
