...And needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
This is the error message that I keep getting when I try to start GE.
I recently bought a new computer (P4 3GHz, XP, 1014MB RAM, 160MB Had drive, Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset), immediately downloaded GE (v. 3) and it worked perfectly - I was hooked.
A couple of days later when I tried to open the program I got the message above. It displayed the GE opening screen for a few seconds then the message apprears.
Now I have downloaded v. 4 and it still does the same thing, although it continues to log me in in the background but once the error message has appeared the program stops loading.
I'm getting really frustrated! I'm no computer whiz so I really need some advice in simple terms. Please help! (I have attached the .dmp file)
Thanks! Oli

Does your "My Places" have a lot of active (checked) image overlays?

It doesn't have any as far as I am aware...I didn't get as far as changing any options or saving any places before this error began appearing.

Thanks for directing me to that, but I had checked this advice before posting - I have tried everything I could find on the forums and in the support section but to no avail...has anyone else encountered this error message and do you have any ideas why?! Is there something obvious that I have done wrong or am missing? (probably quite likely...)

Yes tons of people have reported this mystery error. It would be helpful if you would tell us about your computer setup there. Graphics card, Windoz version. You got direct X 9.0c there? Have you tried Open gl instead.

At least I'm not alone in my incompetence!
Graphics card: Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Windows XP, Direct X 9.0c...anything else that might be useful?
I have tried both Open GL and Direct X versions and no luck - what else could I try?

Thanks for that suggestion - but I have already tried just that. But I could not update it with the file on the intel website (I got an error message - 'The driver could not be installed on this computer. Please contact the computer's manufacturer for further information') and had to use a file found through my manufacturers website instead:
http://support.dell.com/support/download...p;fileid=150654
But after updating with this file Google Earth still doesn't work. Maybe the problem is something to do with this Dell-specific file??
