For Placemarks, you can see what we've done here on the GEC. Use this icon (http://www.google.com/earth/images/google_earth_link.gif ):

Is there a larger version of this icon or other icons I can use? I'm using it here...

Here's my favorite one. I'm using it on my Wikipedia page. Please tell me what you think.

special cursor over GE-related hypelinks [Re: AmericanXplorer13]

There is another way to mark links to Google KMZ files; you may change cursor that browsers use over such links, adding Google Earth icon to the standard hand and its index finger.

Use the following HTML code example as your template:

Code:
<a style="cursor: url(http://Mithgol.Ru/Live/Journal/Cursor/kmz.cur), pointer;"
href="http://Mithgol.Ru/Earth/shubino.kmz"
title="Google Earth: ...">your link text here</a>

Type your own KMZ URL inside the href="http://..." attribute.

Use your own link text between <a> and </a> tags.

There are some browsers that do not enjoy complete implementation of the section 18.1 of CSS level 2 revision 1 specifications, that's why link cursors cannot be downloaded in such browsers (e.g. in Opera), and standard hand cursor is shown instead. Therefore some floating tooltip is also necessary to provide a hint. Extend the contents of title="..." attribute to something like title="Google Earth: [your placemark name here]".

However, the above mentioned section of CSS 2.1 is well implemented in MSIE 6 and Firefox 1.5, so the cursor is downloaded and works as desired for the majority of your audience.

You may also wish to download http://Mithgol.Ru/Live/Journal/Cursor/kmz.cur and save the file locally on your web site, so that much shorter relative URL can be used inside url(...) brackets. I encourage this idea, because it saves traffic of my own Mithgol.Ru site.

Advanced coders may also notice that it is not necessary to repeat style="..." definition for each KMZ hyperlink; you may define a special class in your stylesheet instead, and make the overall code size shorter.

Good luck.

Good
Also nice wiki page. Maybe add links to forums?

Maybe use " GEC tm " as base and make design for this?
