Per barryhunter here, here's what the answer is: I asked,
> My version 4 beta problem is that my URLs no longer work. My syntax has been: > > http://maps.google.com/maps?q=48.890706,2.363186&output=kml
-- now any such URL has to read, instead, in GE3 and GE4,
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=@48.890706,2.363186&output=kml

The coastlines in GE are a little off... It looks like all of northern Maui is about to be clobbered by Tsunamis, even on low slope coasts. Check 20o'55'42.70" x 156o22'06.46" for an example.

Whet trying to open .gpx files with dots in file name (besides the dot that separates file name and extension), GoogleEarth 4.0.1693 beta displays "This file format is not supported by Google Earth" and does not open the file. For exapmle, it successfully opens the file with name "20060823.gpx", but fails to open it when it is renamed to "2006.08.23.gpx".
The same for 4.0.2091.0.

I have GE 4.0.2091 (beta) version - Build Date Sep. 14 2006 Renderer is DirectX 8 O/S Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
Display Adapter is NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200LE with 128MB RAM Driver is nv4_disp.dll version 6.14.10.9147 Resolution is 1024 x 768 x 60 hertz (32 bit)
The problem I have found is that when scrolling left or right using cursor keys, they do not work correctly at Eye Alt under about 6km on Longtitude 0. Using onscreen scroll with mouse is OK and cursor keys work OK at greater altitudes. Is this a GE problem or a computer problem? Has anyone else come across this?

Hi there, You have identified some problems in your description already. First of all you need directX 9.0c for optimum performance with GE4. Also 128 ram is pushing it.
Have a read through the Tech link in my sig below to find out more.
no_strangers addition is excellent.

I have checked DirectX using DXDiag and found I actually already have DirectX 9 This is DXdiag report Quote:
--------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200LE Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce FX 5200LE DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0323&SUBSYS_31421458&REV_A1 Display Memory: 128.0 MB Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200 Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0010.9147 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 8/11/2006 21:42:52, 4496128 bytes
According to GE requirements, 128MB is more than adequate to handle GE graphics Quote:
What graphics cards are recommended?
We recommend any graphics card with at least 32 MB of Video RAM and 3D-graphics rendering capabilities. However, if you would like to use Google Earth for more advanced features like movie making or using multiple overlays, a graphics card with at least 64 MB of virtual ram or above is suggested.
However after reloading GE after reboot, clear cache, etc, Clicking on Help - About GE - it still shows renderer as DirectX 8 I only have this problem at 0 Longtitude with cursor keys. Why should it only happen at 0 degrees Long?

Hi
Please see this topic:
http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/531603/an//page//vc/1
The solution may be switching to "safe mode".
On the other hand, your system seems to be starting confused. You'd better take action before it afflicts you. Try to install dx90c (not 9) first. No application can indicate a version that does not exist. It is that you previously had dx8 (or a game is confusing the system).

I've tried many ways already to see if problem is my computer.
I have got the same problem with DirectX 9 (which shows as 8 in GE) and also in Open GL ( both in normal and safe modes.) This rules out directX problem.
I also deleted cache between each one. This rules out cache problem.
I've come to conlusion it IS a bug in GE beta.
The ONLY place on GE where this occurs is 0 degrees Longtitude. It needs other people to try using left and right keyboard cursor keys at heights below 6km on this spot to see if is a beta problem.

Yes, it is a known bug and I am sure it has been beaten for the coming version. But you still have the dx problem.
