Re: Google Earth 4 - Beta2 Feedback Ruler Tool [Re: PenguinOpus]
      #727831 - 12/22/06 07:09 AM

The new interface to GE4 is very nice. I find it much cleaner and more user friendly. My comment is with the ruler tool (Tools->Measure in previous versions).

On previous Measure dialog boxes, each tool had an option to clear the current tool in use as well as a "Clear All" button. I found this extremely helpful as I often will measure the area of a parcel with the polygon tool, then switch to the line tool to measure property depth and width. Afterwards I could clear the line tool while keeping the polygon on screen. This is no longer possible as the Clear button will clear all measurement tools.

On your next update you should restore the Clear button for each individual measurement tool along with the Clear All button to clear all tools.

Thanks,
Ken Fioretti

Whet trying to open .gpx files with dots in file name (besides the dot that separates file name and extension), GoogleEarth 4.0.1693 beta displays "This file format is not supported by Google Earth" and does not open the file. For exapmle, it successfully opens the file with name "20060823.gpx", but fails to open it when it is renamed to "2006.08.23.gpx".

The same for 4.0.2091.0.

The same for 4.0.2722.0.

The same for 4.0.2091.0. Do you read this forum guys?

Thank you for loading gpx tracks with "<" or ">" symbols in track names without denies in 4.0.2722.0. However, 4.0.2722.0 truncates track name at "<" symbol (">" is processed correctly, as well as "&", for example).

Yes, please.
It still doesn't seem to make a difference when I use any value at all, the line stays one pixel wide.
I don't if it is me or a bug.

This has been through several versions of GE4.xxx, and normal gpx file from mapsource, or the files being saved on the memory card of my etrex legend.
This used to work fine in google earth 3

here is the first part of the xml gpx file

DirectX users cannot adjust width? Why not?
DirectX as opposed to OpenGL that most normal PCs don't support?

It seems strange that directx uders can change the opacity of their lines, but not the width?
I sure hope this is going to be fixed soon.

# Width - The default setting for line width is 1 pixel. You can adjust the thickness of the line from 0 to 4 pixels by clicking on the Width button and using the up and down arrows to adjust the width within the allowed range. You can enter other values for the line width by typing in a number in the Width field. Note that DirectX users cannot adjust line width.
