The Kurt Cobain Tour(A tour of his life)

View in Google Earth         View in Google Maps (3526 downloads)

Firstly,i'd like to thank god,for the fact that my little project is now finished, meaning that i have done and found all i could.
Secondly i would like to thank google for their map site,it really helped sometimes.
There are 53 placemarks here, all are places that kurt went to for one reason or another, aberdeen, and most of the early parts of his life, may not be in high res,but i have included lots of information on every one of the placemarks,so that you know where you are,not only on the map,but in Kurt life at the time he was in that particular place.
I would like to advise that you turn on the buildings layer,as there is a good few place marks that have the buildings view.
It has taken me weeks to compile all this information, and then through the help of my search engine(google),find all the particular spots,so i hope you take time to play the tour,as it goes in the correct time scale, from birth to death, and read all my post for the placemarks,as they are full of useful info on the band, amongst other things.
I hope you enjoy it.
I gathered most of my information though from book called "Heavier Than Heaven" The Biography of Kurt Cobain, written by Charles R. Cross.

I have now added a new link here to a cool website that takes you underneath and on top of ,the bridge on young street, where kurt told everyone that he lived under for a period, when his mother had kicked him out.You need a quicktime player to play the pictures, hold down your left mouse button and slighty slide it left or right or up and down to go in those directions,(pretty simple i know, but i have to tell those who DONT know!!)If you put your speakers on when you use the underneath view of the bridge,it plays the song "Underneath the Bridge" from the album "Nevermind" by Nirvana,to add that creeped out feeling.EXCELLENT!!Have Fun People!!

hahaha, well spotted rider, there are around 3,maybe 4 mistakes in this tour, one of them flys completely over the mark, right past it too,i think this is to do with my trying to tilt the camera due to the buildings layer.
As for geographical errors,i'm sure that most of them are bang on the mark.
If you spot any more geographical errors, let me know about it,so that i can do absolutley nothing about it,wont you??hahahaha
No,seriously though,i dont know how to alter these mistakes,so therefore i havent,if you know,let me know,and i will correct it.thanks.

Congratulations!

I´m from Madrid (Spain), 8647 Km away from that bridge and after viewing the link I know I MUST get there some day! Yes Ive felt the need to pass by that road, stop, go down there and put my butt on that sandy hollow... I will write something on the ceiling, and take some mud and water into a bottle and some pics or video shoot!!

It seems like someone from Google has knew about this, cause theyve added a big area in high-res that covers JUST the bridge at the lower left corner of it; maybe they will extend it to the whole Aberdeen-Hoquiam area...

The exact coordinates according to Google Earth are: 46°59'3.40"N ; 123°48'18.60"W

Years ago I was in one of those music bars with chalkboards above the urinals.
Someone had written "Kurt is with Elvis now."
Below that, someone had added "And Elvis is pissed."

I have to say, reguardless of the placemark Kurt Cobain likely has never visited Santee in his entire life.

I was the lighting tech at RKCNDY during the early 90's. If you really want to be nit-picky RKCNDY was located in the part of that building to the north-west of the shiny roof. I worked there after Nirvana was already too big to play small clubs but I did see Kurt in there one time. He was much smaller than I had pictured him! Dave Grohl was best friends with the sound guy , Barrett, (who later produced the first foo-fighters album) so he was there a lot. He was fun to hang with. I ran into Krist in the upstairs bathroom there one night and he passed me his pipe. Good memories of the old RKCNDY. Thanks for bringing those memories back!
