This is actually a statue of a plane, rather than an actual plane. But it represents the Wright Flyer, and is on two poles at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at Daytona Beach.

Hello Everyone,
carmedic recommend that I should post here. I recently discovered this thread and have been very impressed with the great amount of data. I should explain why. I am the webmaster of www.aerialvisuals.ca, which is home to an aircraft search tool called the Locator...
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php
This tool provides the user the ability to search for aircraft geographically rather than providing limited static lists of aircraft types (which other preserved aircraft lists do). I of course use GE for determining the location of aircraft and have imbeded GM in the site to provide maps with markers of locations indicating the accuracy reliability (high green is good, low red is bad).
I have recently discovered this list and have started to harvest the information for the Locator database. This will be a task that will take a while to complete as recently I moved from location reasearch mode into infrastructure mode. I am currently working a trip planning tool where users will be able to create routes to visit the various locations in the Locator, and then be able to provide links to share those routes with others.
Anyway, I am starting to run-on here. I think I have made a good case for you to visit my site, especially the Locator. If you do try it out, I suggest you try entering "mounted" in the type category. It will provide you with a list of aircraft which are known (in the database) to be mounted on poles (or similar). That might be of particular interest. I hope you are able to find something you didn't know about previously and perhaps you can help me with something for which I could use assistance (look for the red + icons in the Locator listings).
That is it for now. I look forward to becoming part of this aviation minded GE community.
Regards,
Mike Henniger Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
P.S. For a list of rough notes (a work in progress) of unverified potentially new locations for the Locator (or the GE community) visit... http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator_Notes.php ...be warned. It might take a while to complete loading the page.
P.P.S. The Locator is only about 2 years old, and is expected to be a long-term work in progress.
