first of all i would like to teach you a beautiful hungarian word: kocsma
simply could be translated as pub however in Hungary this word has some overtone.
in attached KMZ folder you will find some "elegant" pubs, bars, cafes and dining places,
but most of the placemarks points to scruffy boozers where the barflies spend their time. 
As far as i know in Hungary my town is the first by the number of pubs per inhabitants.
I will try to collect all places but it is nearly impossible as some of them may close
and new ones could appear as i wander through the town.
here you are cca. 120 so far...
placemarks are in groups: picture illustrateds, non illustrateds, pubs from the environs.
most of the boozers' names are translated to english!
placemark and picture updates forecastable!

town in hi-res imagery. ortho-mosaic been superseded.
As you could already seen, the town is not small at all.
Besides groove of life awaits at the core by the market, the bath and of course in the boozers, you also have the chance to run away to the boondocks and satellite settlements those are soaked with health, love and heritage.
Another jewel my town been crowned with is River Tisza.
Not far from the town two beautiful ox-bow lakes and the "Living Tisza" lurks
a bit closer from the horizon in an environmetally protected zone.
 
in Hmv at the river folder you will find an ortho mosaic about the gallery forests and these beautiful dead channels. (credit: digital map of Hmvhely )
the other raster is called to show you the wetland territories area before river regulations.
if you play a bit with transparency you will have the chance to see structures in the town and around, have been formed by ancient waters.

Csomorkány church ruins, Hódmezövásárhely, Hungary
This Romanesque and Gothic church with its buttresses and an apse was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. The ruins were conserved around 1830.

The remains of the long, narrow, high edifice with its reticulated vaulting and buttresses can be seen to this day. Inside it was plastered by a mortar coloured with ground red sandstone. The walls were decorated with frescoes and the floor paved with fired tiles. Including the elongates apse it was nearly 27 metres long and 8 metres wide.
Established in the Árpád Age, Csomorkány developed into a market town in the 14th century. It was destroyed in 1596 and was never rebuilt again.
Can be visited at any time. -credit-

since last GE imagery update 2007.10.06. Hódmezövásárhely is available in hi-res!
i have replaced all the marks from the thread also have put together all smaller files in original post's KMZ!
check subfolders one by one and use the detailed map just for streetnames!
turn overlays off when checking placemarks and enjoy high resolution!
my new finds added to "places" folder.

Following the great 1879 flood in Szeged, a three-kilometre long
stonewall was erected along the southern part of the town,
unique in the Southern Great Plain region.

by last summer i worked on an excavation in the centre of my town.
a new sports-hall-project on it's way at the location, but we have dug out more than 20.000 ceramics pieces,
10.000 animal-bones, many iron stuff as coins or agricultural tools before.
it took 2 months for a dozen of workers and archeologists on a 2500 m2 area.
we dug from the ottoman layer but also have found a great bronze-age mug.
by that time i went thirsty for a good beer...

That must have been fascinating, syzygy!
And how convenient that it's right next door to the The János Tornyai Museum! Not so far to carry all the new found artifacts!
How did you become involved? Did you volunteer? Or was it part of a course or a job? It must have been a great experience!

hi heamit!
glad to hear from you at last!
well, you know i have been unemployed for more than a while so i had no choice selecting among jobs.
a friend told me the opportunity to work there a month or so and as i have been weakened by sitting at my desk i thought
it would be good to body and soul as well.
i can tell you this was one of the most exhausting jobs i have ever had and it payed less than 2 EURO (cca. two beers) per hour...
besides it was a very exciting, nice job for us all who cooperated.
