I have etrex like sirous but when i press select, nothing happens. Ive tried putting it into "demo" but nothing happens still. How do i ensure my GPS is properly connected?

Where is the ini file?

Hello, Before you post up a new placemark, check it isnt already been posted by a: ticking the box-

b:searching the forums, as it might take time for it to appear on the map

Look after the BBS!, dont clog up the same placemark unless you have something new to add to it! (like a map)

Sounds good,
But it didn't work to me.
I have a eTrex (the yellow), put it on NMEA OUT mode.
I checked in mapsource, the com port was com2. so I selected that.
But when I select "connect" nothing happens. I mean, The long-lat in the large box doesn't change.
What is wrong?

Sirous

I am basically having this same problem. Is anyone else? If so how did they fix it?

If you have a GPS reciever and it is connected to a portable computer, and both are moving, and the computer is running Google Earth, you can see a placemark on the map indicating where you are.

View in Google Earth (574 downloads)

Try to chance the mapped COM Port of the USB device in the Device Manager (see attached file).

On my notebook this nice application works fine.

Ivanavitch...Great software. Got it working fairly quickly with a Magellan Sportstrak Map. Using a usb/serial cable at 4800. I like the new executable with the nmea string. Shows me things are working. I have a question about the range slider. I can't seem to get closer than say 3000 ft when I change it. I havn't tried it when i'm "mobile" yet, as I don't have an internet connection when I'm in my car. (Working on that..I have a blackberry that I should be able to get working..if Cingular will help). Anyway...Again..great code and nice work. Look forward to future enhancements and consider me when you are looking for beta testers.

Thanks
Andy
