Bravo!

Good idea to put the airport name in the title, that makes it
possible to make research with CTRL-F for find the ICAO code.

The centerville airstrip location appears to be a bit too far to North, it's sitting nearer to the Centerville dragstrip than the airstrip which is actually a grass field.

Does anyone remember where on Stead AFB the Concentration Camp and Escape & Evasion courses were located? Or where in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains they took the E&E trainees? Thanks.

Not true. I've flown down there quite a few times, they service general aviation aircraft.

Runway length seems to be 1.2 Km without guard.
I intended to fly along the cost with a light aircraft and explore as much as possible in a two month tour.
Will appreciate info about facilities including hangarage.
Any sugestions apreciated.

Dow AFB closed in 1968, leaving the city to develop Bangor Intl Aprt. For those interested in history: Before the base was named Dow AFB it was known for a while locally at least as Dow Field (Maybe short for Dow Army Airfield) and before that as Godfrey Field. I once lived at 701 Union St, and went to sleep listening to engine runs on the KB-29s and KB-50s SAC flew out of there in the late 1940s.

Parafield YPPF Airspace [Re: majicent]
      #920388 - 06/12/07 01:29 PM

View in Google Earth         View in Google Maps (1233 downloads)

The attached tracks mark out the boundaries of the Parafield, South Australia (YPPF) training area airspace. The GPS coordinates were taken from the CASA web site in their document "Designated Airspace Handbook" (7-June-2007) that specifies the boundary coordinates.

Note that the Visual Terminal Chart (VTC) for the area shows the boundary lines, but these are very slightly different from the DAH coordinates.

I have copied and paste the exact text from the DAH document into the 'description' for each segement.

These files contain the boundaries for the following airspaces

Parafield GAAP CTR (YPPF)
D290 - the transit area between Parafield and the training area
D291 - the southern part of the training area
D277 - the northern part of the training area

Enjoy!

Hopefully these will be of use to the hundreds of pilots that use this airfield, and especially the student pilots that have to learn the boundaries.

Hi Aero,
Just found this old post after joining GE. I live right nearby to this strip. Sorry to say this is a private airstrip and you would probably have to prior permission before scheduling to land here. I do not know of any hangers because it is set off the road a bit with a gated entrance. I can see a fuel tank if you need to top off. I think this phone number might help- 941-697-1300. Other small airports in the area are: Charlotte County Airport- 941-639-4119 to the south or 941-639-1101, Venice Airport- 941-486-2711 to the north. There is also a 'grass' field in Englewood- Osceola Rd. & Old Englewood Rd. The owners park the plane behind their home!
Good luck in your venture!
If you are interested we manage rental condos & homes in the area so let us know if you need a rest period. Our website is www.visitenglewood.com, or call- 941-698-0600 office/home.
Best Regards,
Kurt

Hi Guys,

I have created APIs for Airports. For IATA code for all airports in US (23K),
it will give you relevant information.

All information can be found at this link -
Airport API (Database)

This system allows simple REST calls and you can get useful data like runway information, longitude and latitude etc for each airport.

I will add ICAO support soon to this system.

Enjoy!!!

Would it be interesting for people if I create a KML file also for the same?

Let me know .....

Thanks,
Rajat

Re: DAFIF Airport Information Worldwide - EBSU [Re: Karl_9999]
      #1171090 - 05/16/08 02:35 AM

Hello,

for your information, EBSU (Belgium) is misplaced; the marker points to EBSH, which is *not* a military base but an civilian airfield dedicated to small aviation and gliding. It houses the belgian National Soaring Center (CNVV). EBSU is the airfield a few miles eastward, with a concrete runway.

Other belgian civilian airfields absent from this work are EBNM (Namur) and EBTX (Theux)

Nice job nevertheless...

Hi there,
Just to clarify the airport listing for Brisbane, QLD, Australia
YBBN Brisbane INTL is actually the domestic airport, if you travel SSW 2km, that airport is the International terminal, the northern one is Brisbane Domestic Terminal.
