If anybody can figure a way out to log google earth on to the mars server the adress is mars.keyhole.com
If you try and go there in your browser it might give you an error but after a while of reloading the webpage it will show a screen with apache. I really am serious about it.
If someone could modify the server adress in the dll, or wherever that server adress data is located, to allow you to choose a server adress it would would be awesome because I just told you the adress. Remeber make sure that the file is legal and contains no illegal cracks for your enjoyment because you could into big trouble with google.
I hope you get it to work

Since people don't seem to be reading the very first message (probably due to the many pages this thread is being broken into):
"Addendum: now that we've launched Google Earth, many people are asking about Mars in Google Earth. At this time, the (single) server hosting the Mars database can't accomodate any more users than our historical Keyhole NV and Keyhole 2 NV users. When those existing NV users upgrade to Google Earth Plus, they'll still be able to see Mars, but everyone else will not. We hope to make this database available to more people in the future."
Please don't spend time trying to figure out a way to get access to it... the whole point is that that server can't take the load of even a small % of GE users, so even if you somehow succeeded, it would last a short time and then disappear completely. In a choice about where to best spend our efforts, we are focusing on making Earth better. Mars comes later.

When/If this becomes available, the user has a choice between the Primary (Earth) database and the Mars database when logging in.

it's nice that you'r getting high res data for Mars. myself I'd like to see the house I grewup in in high res. People don't believe i grew up in a castle on Magician lake in michigan. But it's there. Googles just interested in big cities and mars. And the hell with the rest of us.

I agree,
Its nice that you can provide high res for some locations including Mars, but how about other areas of our own planet which are still not in high res?

There has been some confusion about how to login on to the Mars server In Keyhole 2 (Keyhole 2 NV only). To do so, use the "File" menu "logout" option, followed by "login". Select the "Mars Database" from the server menu.
This doesnt work. When i click logout the earth disappears. ok. Then i click login and i dont get any choice it just loads earth and my placemarks automatically. I cant see a option to shut off auto login. I want to view Mars, can anyone please help?
Edit: oh nevermind i see on this second page we cant even view it.

You must have a subscription to the Mars database to access it. Purchasing the Mars database is not possible currently.

Although I love playing around with google earth and ploting points and showing it to family and friends... If you truely want to see more than just our little planet and a few other in the solar system then I would highly recomend a program called Celestia. It is an open source program so its completly free and its really fun to fly to other galexies and see how really small we are.
Its not anywhere as high res as google earth but it can still keep you busy.

Could someone please explain what the posting "Data Announcement, UPDATE: Pakistan" has to do with Mars????
I'm sure the situation in Pakistan is pretty grim, but does this item really need to be posted in every forum? And without giving us the option to respond directly to the post.
sorry for the rant
