Yes, they've made a right mess of things with their new upload of London. What were beautiful, high resolution images with lots of colour, are now replaced with a brown and yellow, sepia blur. Just look at the difference around the borders of new and old imagery.
What an enormous shame.
Anyone agree?
Look at the attachment.
Please complain.

Less detail more shadow, well the detail I dont mind, but so much shadow is sad.
But I like the colors..

Your images are a perfect example of the problem. Thank you.
They're banking on everyone just forgetting about how much worse the update is.
I bet, as usual, it's all about money: the images were cheaper to take, and use less bandwidth.

oh yes... I'm sure it's a money and bandwidth issue.
It's too bad the imagery was taken during the time of day and season they were (so brown because of the total lack of plants alive), and the shadows are annoying. But... the new London data is much newer than the stuff before, and appears to actually be higher resolution well.

It appears to be just a variant on a south-pointing flare, exacerbated by being on a very dark sapphire-discolored sepia image. The whole area with its smoke-belching factories, snow, and gloomy lighting is just too depressing to placemark.

Hello,
Wouldn't this be more to do with the time of day that the image was taken? The shadows would be less of a problem if taken at midday than early morning or afternoon.
I would have thought that the difference between Summer and Winter is the slight change in distance to the Sun rather than the angle of it to the earth at one point - or have I not thought this through properly?
Oh, my head hurts now.

I guess you talking about the London images,
the time of day have to do somthing about it, but this must be winter images, the sun is low to the horizon in winter, and you can see there are no leaves on the trees anymore.
I guess its around 10 o clock in the morning, (UK time.??).

There a lot of dups on the Ijsselmeer in Holland, but this is maybe not a accedent. I guess its just to fill it.
