I am working on a project that needs to look at college and university campuses across the USA. I've gathered together many different plots and made several myself. These are collected into three folders that I combinded into 1 main folder.
I find this very usefull to have this information gathered together in one file. Please feel free to use it as you see fit.
If you find any errors please let me know so it can be corrected. Also, let me know if you know of any additions.
Thanks, S

Your post for Utah State University in St. George, UT, is actually pointing to an LDS (Mormon) chapel near the campus of Dixie State College.

The university in Bozeman, MT is "Montana State University" or MSU. University of Montana (U of M) is located in Missoula Montana. These two schools have a healthy rivalry where sporting events are involved. As such most MSU students do not appreciate having their campus tagged U of M.

Maybe you could make a folder(s) that shows schools by type, e.g. Jesuit, state, etc... would be helpful, Here is a link to the Jesuit schools http://www.ajcunet.edu/tier.aspx?bid=55
Thanks, Great list on a great site.

Your placemark for the University of Alabama - Irondale is incorrect. There's no such thing. Your marker is on a gas station. Please remove.

University of North Dakota - Fargo may be an extension office for UND, but there is not an actual University in Fargo, ND. The location that is marked is a part of the NDSU campus, again a possible Extension office within the campus of NDSU.

If you should choose, there are a couple of additions in the Fargo, ND-Moorhead, MN area that could be included. One of these is Concordia College (46*51'51.45"N, 96*46'11.76"W) and Minnesota State University - Moorhead (46*52'01.32"N, 96*45'35.50"W).

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is actually located at: Lat: 44° 1'33.57"N Lon: 88°33'1.16"W
I am currently working on both a 2d polygon building map for g-maps, and a full 3d version for g-earth... perhaps even the stadium across the river.
Otherwise, great work getting so much put together!

Your pointer at 38.58.52.56 N 76.29.31.28W is not the USNA in Annapolis; instead you located one of the few parrking lots for St. John's College, the other prestiguous institution of higher learning in Annapolis, MD.

This is great how you have colleges posted all across the USA. I noticed you didn't have many in the midwest and none in Wisconsin. I go to University Wisconsin- Madison. That would be a good one to add to make your list more nation wide. Thanks!!

There is actually no institution named Pittsburgh University. It is the University of Pittsburgh. You currently have it centered directly on top of Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Better coordinates more in the heart of the campus would be: 40° 26'37.08" N 79° 57'25.32" W
thank you

Your post for the US Naval Academy is actually on the campus of St. John's College, Annapolis MD, which you do not have listed. (www.stjohnscollege.edu) The Naval Academy is located about 3 blocks to the northeast of where you currently have it.

FYI: West Texas State University in Canyon, TX became a member of the Texas A&M System in 1991 and was renamed "West Texas A&M University." Your marker is in the parking lot south of "Old Main" which was built in 1914.

Your icon for Connecticut Colllege campus is too far north. The campus centers around the large green about .1 miles south east of your post. Great work though!

Also, the location for the campus should be:

about two miles north of where you have it now.

As Jim pointed out a year and a half ago, MSU - Bozeman, is tagged U of M and is incorrect. The MSU and UM rivalry is one of the oldest in the nation dating to 1900 or before. Please change the tag to MSU.

Your post for "Univ of Mexico - Los Alamos" is actually University of New Mexico-Los Alamos. Mexico is a country; New Mexico is a state. We use dollars, not pesos. We have cowboys, not vaqueros. We're north of the border, not south. But don't feel too bad. We New Mexicans have become used to this slight to our Americanism, and the joke goes, "One of our fifty is missing!"

Hi all non-US citizens. There is no logic to claim non-US countries as US territories, is there? The poster must have done a mistake.
Please, keep in mind that only humans can make mistakes, and that's a priviledge that lets us learn ourselves.
But thanks that you informed your moderators about this. In his post, the poster too states thanks for corrections.
The placemarks will disappear from GE after the next update and will not reappear until the poster comes back and corrects the heading or whatever he failed to express -though it is a minor probability since he has not been posting in the forum since November 2006.
Please enjoy the information and continue reporting such errors to the moderators.
We are not removing it from the forum because it contains a lot of useful searchable information that we all need which Google is all about.
Thanks again

Tek -
I am puzzled, because I could not find any reference to US territories in the Community post or in the KMZ file. I did find it very odd that this is supposed to be a collection of US universities and there are several European ones included, so that must be what you meant. It's very unfortunate that the poster did not stay around to maintain his post with the many corrections and additions and perhaps remove the European entries!
Anyway, just for general information, here is a partial Wiki article about the two main types of US Territories: Quote:
An incorporated territory of the United States is a specific area under the jurisdiction of the United States, over which the United States Congress has determined that the United States Constitution is to be applied to the territory's local government and inhabitants in its entirety (e. g. citizenship, trial by jury), in the same manner as it applies to the local governments and residents of the U.S. states. Incorporated territories are considered an integral part of the United States, as opposed to being merely possessions.[1]
In contrast, an unincorporated territory is an area under U.S. jurisdiction, to which Congress has determined that only select parts of the U.S. Constitution apply. Unincorporated territories are essentially colonies, under the supremacy clause, receiving only whatever powers are offered by the U.S. Congress.[2] [3]
Wikipedia.
Before Hawaii became a state in 1959 it was an incorporated territory and the last of this kind. There are currently only unincorporated ones, for example Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands are organized, non-incorporated territories. There are several variations on the legal entity of "territory," denoting various levels of self-governance and rights under the US Constitution, so see the Wikipedia article for a full explanation.

Thanks for adding this info, Diane.
Yes, those European ones being included was what I meant. Unfortunately, they don't fit to the heading of the post. Perhaps, the poster included them for something else in their project or they are their visited campuses or something.
