SS Edmund Fitzgerald was a lake freighter that sank suddenly during a gale storm on November 10, 1975, while on Lake Superior. The ship went down without a distress signal in 530 feet (162 m) of water at 46°59.9′N 85°6.6′W, in Canadian waters about 17 miles (15 nm; 27 km) from the entrance to Whitefish Bay. All 29 members of the crew perished. Gordon Lightfoot's hit song, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, helped make the incident the most famous marine disaster in the history of Great Lakes shipping.

Thanks for pointing out the thread in the GE History Illustrated Forum
I made an individual image overlay file with the USCG trackline.(placemark this post)
1-6-06 added bathymetry contours and Tin,
filesize 1.3meg

added a bit of detail:
windows, port holes, hatch covers, hatch lift and track, crowsnest, railing, name ... etc.
put image overlays into NetLink.
( capt. Bud's painting, track line, wreckage image with crew list)
rearranged placemark tours views
for the time being .... she is still in Duluth

use ver. 4.0.2416, Oct 31 2006 best viewed in OpenGL mode

touched up annimation, tilt, roll and a bit of movement. filesize 700kb
 
 
timer setting tips
watching and listening really gives me a yearning for being back on the big blue dot.
big blue dot = at sea standing atop the wheelhouse seeing nothing except blue water in 360 deg.

use GE ver 4.0.2693, Dec162006
select placemark "Bow View" after model loads
altered ship roll,tilt, altitude settings and startup view for new GE version
