verry cool, verry cool. This is good work!! The next cool step would be to make each one a polygon (loads of time) and then raise the level to a set scale!
anyone want to do this?

To anyone implementing this: IMHO the height of the polygon should be set to the population density so that the volume of a countries polygon is proportional to the number of inhabitants. If you simply raise the level to the population and two countries have the same number of inhabitants, the country with the larger surface area would seem to have more inhabitants.
What I am planning to do is add some 2nd level regions to this KML, such as U.S. states, Chines provinces, etc. I think I'll have a look at this Geonames database but if anybody has another reliable source of regions inhabitants (and/or lat-lon locations) I am, of course, interested.
