This is really weird. First, I thought it was a photogrammertic effect, but as I zoomed in, I realized that this accurate grid is actually traces of vihecle tyres of some kind!
The lines of the grid are on EXACT east-west axes. They cover a huge area, and they are exactly 250m apart from one another.
The site looks like an oil or mineral exploration of some sort. This is definitely man-made. However, one cannot help but think about our fellow aliens out there

Nice find mYzo! I agree it looks like mineral exploration. The large number of earthworks in the vicinity (mainly to the south, but actually all around) are possibly part of this.
... or alien landing pads, of course

They are exactly what they appear to be...grid lines , exept they have been formed by vehicles following grid lines marked on a map.
That area is the oil fields of the Egyptian Western desert and I work out there not far to the west of that area. They are caused by seismic work which involves shooting exposives into the earth and measuring the return signals just like a radar signal. the purpose of seismic is to get a picture of the underlying geloogical formations and thus the oil or gas potantial of any reservoirs below. basiaclly they have been looking for oil or gas. The reason for the tracks is that they tend to use a very labour intensive method for this in Egypt involving a camp of hundreds of people and scores of vehicles going over a very defined route as per the seismic maps done in advance by the geoligists.
there has been a lot of seismic work done out in that area lately and i witness it last year. there was a camp in the desert with hundreds of people as if a circus had come to town ..
