I have version 3 installed. When I try to install version 4 I get an error message:
An error (-5009 : 0x8002802b) has occurred while running the setup.
Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: Google .....
The details say: Error Code: -5009 : 0x8002802b Error Information: >Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (163) >Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (402) >Kernel\Component.cpp (1163) >Kernel\CABFile.cpp (389) >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1541) PAPP:Google Earth PVENDOR:Google (http://www.keyhole.com) PGUID:3DE5E7D4-7B88-403C-A3FD-2017A8240C5B $11.50.0.42618PAK @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180
I have tried to delete (move) all Installshield info in c:\program files\installshield installations folder, without any luck. Have tried to reboot etc.
Does anyone know what might help?
Thanks in Advance

G'Day hoegge, welcome to the GEC.
First up I would be inclined to delete the download and try a fresh one from HERE
Give that a try and please let us know how you get on.
Cheers.

OK hoegge, the next step would be to re-name your Installshield folder as set out in THIS HELP PAGE from the GE UserGuide Support pages.

YEP! It worked. I thought I had tried that already, since I read about this InstallShield problem before, but I renamed the folder:
c:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information
which seemed not to be the right one.
Now, should I just delete my "c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield_old" folder which contains much more files than the new folder created by the GE 4 installation?
Thanks Høgge

Good one hoegge, I wouldn't worry too much about the Installshield_old folder too much and leave it where it is unless you have a problem with hard-drive space. At least untill you have prooved that you won't need the data in it for future installs.

Thanks again.
Actually I already today had a problem by not having the old folder with Excel and Paperport complaining about having a InstallScript something that was out of date (Paperport from Scansoft is a very ill-behaving application). So I restored my old install shield folder, and Excel and Paperport worked again. So now I'll keep both.
It would be nice though, that the GE 4 installer was corrected to fix this problem itself, if posiible.
