All good. Uncompressing Google Earth for GNU/Linux 4.0.2723.0.................................................................. setup.data/bin/Linux/amd64/setup.gtk2: error while loading shared libraries: libxml2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory setup.data/bin/Linux/amd64/setup.gtk: error while loading shared libraries: libSM.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory The setup program seems to have failed on amd64 Fatal error, installer failed to run at all! $ locate libxml2.so /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2 /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2.6.27 $ locate libSM.so.6 /usr/lib/libSM.so.6 /usr/lib/libSM.so.6.0.0 $ uname -a Linux ceres 2.6.18-3-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Dec 4 17:04:37 CET 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux The system is recently installed, and everything seems to be in order, other gtk applications work okay. The pc is an AMD 4200X2, 1gb ram, Debian etch. Nvidia 7600gs graphics. I know I'm missing something obvious, I'm just not seeing it! The debian installer package googleearth-package also fails (for arch issues) but that isn't relevant to here. Can anyone help please? You'll have to find 32bit copies of those libraries and install them by hand.
