I did not mark the Edmonton Institution for Women as silv3r411 has already marked it as " Edmonton women's prison", but here is a link for it. http://www.csc-scc.gc.ca/text/facilit/institutprofiles/edforwomen_e.shtml

HM Prison Inverness, alternatively known as Porterfield Prison, is the main prison for the Highlands, Western Isles, Orkney Isles and Moray and is located at Inverness. The prison provides secure custody for all remand prisoners and short term adult prisoners, both male and female. Established in 1902, the previous prison was housed in Inverness Castle.

I have some placemarks on my map for some of Arkansas's prisons, but I do not know how to get them onto the Google Earth map. Can anyone help?

Hi to all,
I am not sure what all should or does get posted. I am writing about the post concerning the prisons in the Huntsville, Tx area. I noticed that some buildings are named Prison names when actually they are other places like schools and many of the prisons are named incorrectly. I would like to share the correct information if I may. I am unsure how the best way to do that is. I don't see XAV, the person who was placemarking the prisons..Interesting subject. My husband and I are learning about and enjoy Google earth very much.
Sincerely,
Nj

Hi Nanajo,
If you have more correct information about prisons, the best way to inform the community is:
If some place is not a prison, you could just state: "xxxx is no prison but it is YYYYY"
If the places of some prisons are wrong, you could post a folder with the correctly named and placed prisons.
It is now quite a while since I updated the original attachment, but I will soon do so and take into account all the postings since the last update.
There sure will always be some mistakes in the collection, but with the help of other memebers like you, it will eventually get better over time.

Hi Xav,
Thanks for your response. It must have taken a lot of time and research to locate as many prisons as you have. The corrections to the best of my knowledge are as follows:
Goree is actually a Pilot Truck Stop. Goree unit is on HWY 75 South of Huntsville on Southwood Drive and goes all the way to Rusit Rd. This prison is about 200 acres.
The Holiday Unit is on the West side of I45 in Huntsville. It is the old Brown Oil Site... There are no prisoners here however TDCJ offices are located on this property.
The Byrd Unit should be Diagnostic Unit - every inmate in Texas goes through here first to be evaluated and then sent to wherever they will be housed.
The Estell Unit is Huntsville High School....The Estell Unit is located out FM980 and Smither FM Rd.
The Wynne Unit is actually Huntsville Intermediate School. The Wynne Unit is in between Airport Drive, Rosenwall Rd. and FM 2821.
Ellis Unit is named incorrectly. It is actually called The Walls and is where all Texas executions are carried out...The Ellis Unit is located on FM980 and FM3478.
Ferguson Unit is correct.
You may want to add the Eastham Unit which is located directly to the right across the river on FM230
One of the other posts mentions the museum that has Old Sparky. The Texas Museum in Huntsville, Tx. is the one he is referring to. The inmates create all sorts of artistic, amazing things. I guess with all that time on their hands. Makes you wonder why they did not put that talent to use before.
My husband and I will add some more prisons in Texas after looking to see if they are already there. This is fun. Thanks for such and interesting subject.
